Travel Dust

Chronicling the travel memories, musings, and desires of a tropical city girl out to see the world one backpack at a time.
I Likey

There are a few things I look forward to when coming home to the Philippines and this is one of them. World, meet the puto bumbong. A glutinous rice treat made of violet pirurutong rice steamed in bamboo or an elongated steamer then wrapped in banana leaves. It is served with butter/margarine, brown sugar, and grated coconut. This is only widely available around Christmas time in the Philippines and I always crave for one once the holidays kick in. I used to buy it all the time at the Greenhills Night Market. This one came from the neighborhood kanto (street corner).

Yummm!
